Dualit
Max Gort-Barten was a German-born entrepreneur and the founder of Dualit. An astute businessman, Max decided not to compete head to head with other emerging consumer brands but instead focused on the commercial market.
The company grew slowly, gradually improving and extending its range of commercial products. From the first flip-sided toaster in 1946 through the steady growth of a commercial product range such as coffee machines and espresso machines in the 1950s and 60s to its explosion onto the consumer market in the late 70s, Dualit has remained true to the Founders original vision.
Today the company continues to provide professional and aspiring chefs with a broad range of kitchen equipment. Dualit produces a range of kitchen and home appliances and espresso machines which remain firmly rooted in the values the Founder set out for the company in 1945. Reliable, well-engineered products remain at the heart of the company and there is an instantly recognizable – and now nostalgically retro – Dualite aesthetic which can be traced back to first toaster designs in the 1950s.
One constant – an ability to embrace change – has seen the company revolutionize its manufacturing capability without compromising on quality and reliability.
